Sainik School Satara, inaugurated on 23 June 1961, was among the first Sainik Schools set up by the Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defence. The fully residential CBSE school occupies a 115-acre campus at Sadar Bazaar, Satara, and admits cadets in Classes VI and IX, preparing them for the NDA. Its seven cadet houses include one girls' house. Facilities include a cadets' mess, MI room, auditorium, e-learning lab, art and craft centre, nine playfields, a riding school, a swimming pool and obstacle courses.
