About the School

Loreto Convent, Darjeeling was opened in 1846 by the Loreto Sisters (Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary) and moved to its present site on Convent Road by 1847. It is an English-medium Catholic school for girls, run by the Darjeeling Loreto Education Society, and prepares students from pre-nursery to Class XII for the ICSE and ISC exams. Mother Teresa did her novitiate here from 1921 to 1923. The campus has physics, chemistry and biology labs, a library, a playground and a canteen.
