The CBI's investigation into the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak is nearing its next step. According to a report published on 4 October 2026, the agency is expected to file its final charge sheet within about a week.
What the report says
- The first charge sheet was filed on 28 July 2026 and named 13 accused.
- Three more people, described as alleged beneficiaries linked to leaks from coaching centres, were arrested later.
- The case draws on 360 witnesses, 422 documents and 43 material objects.
- Investigating officers quoted in the report said the agency will not name NTA office bearers or government officials in the final charge sheet.
The first charge sheet targeted subject experts appointed by NTA, coaching centre operators, middlemen and candidates. These are allegations in an ongoing case, and any court outcome is still pending.
What this means for NEET aspirants
NEET-UG 2026 was cancelled after the leak, and the government has announced that NEET-UG will become a computer-based test from 2027. Aspirants should keep preparing for the new format and rely only on official NTA notices.
