1. CBSE 2027: date sheet still awaited
CBSE has not yet released the Class 10 and 12 board exam date sheet for 2027. The List of Candidates (LOC) can be submitted until 21 October 2026. Late submission is allowed until 30 October with a fee of Rs 2,000 per candidate. Exams are expected in February-March 2027, Class 10 follows a two-session format, and Class 12 uses on-screen marking.
2. NMMSS deadline extended
The Ministry of Education has extended the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme application deadline to 31 October 2026.
3. Five centres for classical languages
The Ministry approved centres for Classical Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Pali and Prakrit, focused on research, digitisation and preservation.
4. NEET-UG 2026 leak case
A report says the CBI is expected to file its final charge sheet within a week of 4 October. The agency's first charge sheet was filed on 28 July 2026.
5. UPSC reforms
UPSC said it wants to assess reasoning, spontaneous thinking and judgment in uncertain situations, with focus on technology, transparency and exam security.
6. School holidays
Tamil Nadu schools were closed for the quarterly holidays through 4 October and reopen on 5 October. Most other states had schools open on Saturday, 3 October, though Saturday timings vary by state and school.
